Empress Esthetic
With empress esthetic, the main choice for using it in a restoration is the life like esthetics that we can achieve. And at the tooth studio our cutting and stacking technique creates a 3-dimensional effect, in which the results are truly life-like.
We have studied and worked with empress esthetic since its creation, advancing our techniques in using this material; along with advancing the ways we cut and layer our porcelain, creating the ultimate in metal free esthetics.

While demand for metal-free constructions is always rising, there are traditionally many drawbacks. While many all-ceramic systems available on the market offer substantial durability and are metal free, the marginal adaptation is a far cry from that of traditional gold-palladium crowns. This problem is often so pronounced that the crown itself becomes loose and falls off the die. To counteract this gaps often must be filled with composite cement or other steps must be followed, resulting in a massive reduction of the esthetic value of the restoration and making it undesirable. These exposed margins are also avoided due to risk of decay and the possibility of crowns dislodging or breaking.
While these drawbacks make many metal free systems unappealing for numerous reasons, at The Tooth Studio we are proud to offer a viable alternative to metal crowns in the form of the IPS EmpressŪ and IPS Eris systems. The fit of the pressed restoration is sealed to the die better than foil technique and refractory technique. See pictures this revolutionary advance is available for crowns, 3- unit bridges, inlays, Onlays and laminates, and is the closest match to gold in fit and function available. Thanks to rigidly thorough defect-oriented preparation crowns and other items created using the IPS EmpressŪ and IPS ErisŪ systems are not only extremely durable and accurate to the fit of the restoration, but also gentle on the tooth structure, resulting in less wear and damage over time while preserving tooth structure. Due to their non-metal nature, products of these systems lack any black metal shows along the gum line and appear brilliant and life-like rather than colorless and artificial. IPS Empress esthetic restorations are available in 12different ingot shades to provide for the best possible match and the most impressive esthetics available.
The IPS EmpressŪ system features a Fluorapatite glass ceramic, the IPS ErisŪ, which allows for the closest possible match to natural translucency, brightness and shades, allowing for life-like esthetics that are nearly indistinguishable from natural dentition, yet can be applied with only traditional Type I glassionomer cement without compromising the overall flexural strength, fracture resistance and esthetics of the restoration. Over 20 years of clinical experience and success has clearly shown that the IPS Empress system is one of the best metal-free all-ceramic esthetic restorations on the market.
Empress and Eris is now Empress Esthetic, and Empress 2 became e.max. Empress Esthetic has new ingots, shade pastes and stains to create life like esthetics. It has all of the incisal ingots from clear and translucent to opal effect ingots that have the pearl effect to disperse and refract light like natural dentition with higher values. These allow us to do thin veneers to a minimum of. 5mm. The thin veneers of .3mm must be made out of the [e.max impulse] ingots BRAND NEW from ivoclar. Empress Esthetics still has all of the shaded ingots for full coverage to 2nd bicuspids.
Empress Esthetic are the most life-like restorations for veneers, the look of empress is second to none. E.max is slowly catching up with the incisal ingots and have three times the strength. The strength of empress esthetic luecite reinforced glass comes being bonded to the tooth. The tooth becomes the substructure (coping if you will) for the restorations. For long term success the preparation needs to be planned according to the occlusion, protrusion and wear facets.
IPS Empress Esthetic is the material of choice when it comes to the fabrication of pressed, highly esthetic single tooth restorations. In addition to the excellent strength values, the leucite glass-ceramic ingots are distinguished for their exceptional esthetics. The homogeneous material scatters light naturally and provides a balanced chameleon effect.
With IPS Empress Esthetic, you can use a ceramic, which offers more than pure performance. In fact, it effectively combines accuracy of fit, efficiency and esthetics.
IPS Empress Esthetic is available in a total of 7 degrees of translucency, distributed among 12 ingots. The slightly shaded TC ingots are available in 6 shades.
E T Ingots
Given their high translucency, E T ingots are used for the fabrication of smaller restorations, such as inlays or onlays. The ingots can be used for older patients with a strongly translucent, glassy residual dentition or for younger patients with a residual dentition of low opacity.
E O Ingots
The E O ingots with increased opacity are ideally suitable for pressing crowns and veneers for patients with a residual dentition of medium to very high opacity and to match the restoration with bleached teeth.
E TC Ingots
The shaded E TC ingots are available in 6 shades. Given their chroma, they are particularly suitable for the cutback technique, in which incisal materials are layered in the incisal and/or occlusal third after pressing.
Advantages:
Highly esthetic pressed restorations
12 ingots in 7 levels of translucency
True-to-nature light scatting and balanced chameleon effect
Excellent press results and accuracy of fit

IPS Empress CAD- for Cerec and Cerec Connect
IPS EmpressŪ CAD is a leucite-reinforced glass-ceramic block for the CAD/CAM technology.
The IPS EmpressŪ CAD blocks combine the modern CAD/CAM processing technology with a high-performance all-ceramic material. With its homogeneity and light scattering behaviour, IPS Empress CAD provides a balanced chameleon effect. In addition to the light optical properties, the ceramic blocks are distinguished for their flexural strength of 160 MPa. IPS Empress CAD restorations enthuse users with their true-to-nature translucency and convincing esthetics.
IPS Empress CAD blocks are available in different translucency levels and as polychromatic multi-blocks. They are supplied in A-D shades, Chromascop and modern light Bleach shades.
HT Blocks
The IPS Empress CAD HT blocks with high translucency are mainly used for the milling of smaller restorations (e.g. inlays), due to their lifelike chameleon effect.
LT Blocks
Thanks to their chroma and brightness value, the blocks with lower translucency (LT) are ideally suitable for the fabrication of larger restorations (e.g. partial crowns, crowns).
Multi Blocks
The polychromatic IPS Empress CAD Multi blocks are the highlight of the IPS Empress CAD range of products. Given their true-to-nature shade and fluorescence transition between the dentin and the incisal areas, they provide restorations with a maximum of esthetics and lifelike appearance even without characterization.
Advantages:
Highly esthetic CAD/CAM-fabricated restorations
3 different blocks for every patient situation
Choice of true-to-nature chameleon effect, lifelike brightness value, or natural shade gradient
Flexural strength of 160 MPa
Indications
Single-tooth restorations (veneers, inlays, onlays, anterior and posterior crowns)
IPS Empress Characterization
Restorations made of IPS Empress Esthetic and IPS Empress CAD can be stained, glazed or even individually veneered.
IPS Empress Universal Shade/Stains
With the IPS Empress Universal Shades and Stains materials in paste form, individual characteristics are simulated on the surface of the restoration and subsequently fired in the Programat ceramic furnaces
IPS Empress Esthetic Veneer
The opalescent IPS Empress Esthetic Veneer layering materials brings restorations yet another step closer to nature. With the "cut-back technique", the fully anatomical IPS Empress Esthetic or IPS Empress CAD restoration is reduced in the incisal third to a dental-mamelon structure and then individually characterized (e.g. mamelons). The tooth shape is then completed using incisal materials.
IPS Empress Cementation and Care
Adhesive cementation
The quality and durability of ceramic restorations can be supported by the use of the correct luting material.
